It’s here. It’s the time of the year I look forward to so much. It is the start of Spring which means it’s time to pitch our caravan back down the coast. My definition of happiness has to involve a caravan in there somewhere. I love it. It is our space where we just strip back all the complexities of life, put the brakes on, and focus on what is important – and that undoubtedly means spending quality time as a family.
Yes, I admit that our site is a little muddy at the moment. But that is why we have wellies. It isn’t as warm as it could be. But that is why we have fleeces. And the weather is unpredictable. So that is why we have a stash of DVD’s, loads of jigsaws, and sticker books. Nothing can put us – specifically me – off.
This Bank Holiday with just a hint of good weather we did what lots of other families did and headed for the beach. Wrapped up in fleeces and woolly hats we sat on the beach and shared a bag of sand coated chips and later warmed up with mugs of hot chocolate. Typically British. The wind was sharp but the sun was out, perfect conditions for blowing off the winter cobwebs.
We all enjoyed kicking the football, splashing in puddles, rolling about in the sand, and chasing each other up and down the beach.
Harry had rosy cheeks from running around and a runny nose from all the fresh air. The combination of fresh air and exercise meant he was absolutely exhausted by the time we got back to the caravan. In fact we all were. All of us fell asleep that night feeling a lot more relaxed, happier and content. And the good news is that we have plenty more weekends in the caravan to look forward to. Happy days!
